Camino Dia 5: Buen Camino!

Camino Dia 5: Buen Camino!

Today was a good day for a hike. About 10 miles from Palas de Rei to Melide.

Buen Camino! is a greeting that is passed on to pilgrims. It is the most heard phrase on the trail. “Buen Camino” literally means good road, but it can also mean good path, path being both physical and spiritual.

We started out the morning with about 60 teenagers and their chaperones. We could hear them a mile away. Chat chat chat! They left us on one of the hills. Kasey wanted to volunteer to chaperone them but I reminded him that he hadn’t filled out the paperwork for chaperoning. He was so disappointed. HaHa!!!

We have started seeing a lot more statues of St. James and pilgrims. Still many churches.

Meals have been interesting and sometimes not healthy. Breakfast: chocolate croissant. Lunch: Brownie like item (had to hit something— only restroom available for miles). Snack: Apple, Doritos and cheese. Finally dinner which was very late at 8:30pm snacks provided from 7-8:30 included Oreo cake, mini croissant sandwiches, chips, mini grilled ham and cheese and egg, cheese and potato scramble. Then finally a split smashed burger.

Animals seen today: sheep with babies… ahhh, horse and turkey.

We crossed two very old bridges today. One is over 900 years old. Bella’s cousin escorted us over it. Cute little dog out walking itself. But it wasn’t as cute as Bella.

“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without pretense.” James‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Buen Camino! Love to all.
