Camino Day 3: Up Up the Hill
“You don’t have to wait until you get to the top of a mountain to enjoy the view.” ~Eleanor Brown
Today, we hit our highest point on the trail. So, I spent a lot of time checking the views on the way up. Our legs are aching and feet are tired. We hiked about 11 plus miles today. It was almost all uphill.
We met loads of other pilgrims today. Today, we definitely the busy day out there. USA, England, Germany, Korea, Mexico, Italy and Spain. The youngest is a baby that is hiking with her parents. We enjoyed dinner with them. We also saw a large group of about 50 middle school age kids that are doing the Camino as a field trip. Some interesting characters on the trail.
We started the day walking in the fog. Probably was best since it was uphill most of the day.
Lunch was at one of the only two places open today. That was our main meal. Bacon and cheese sandwiches with the last of our Pringles. We carried a pasta packet with us to make for dinner. Our German friends shared their fried potatoes and scrambled eggs with us too. No restaurants open here in Eirexe (Airexe). The innkeeper is very sweet and wanted to help everyone out with their food.
The inn is wonderful old building and very modern inside. We are next to the Church of St. James and can see it from our window.
